Question 1

What are figure 8 wrist straps used for?

Accepted Answer

Figure 8 straps lock your wrists to the bar so your grip does not fail before the target muscle. They are used for deadlifts, rows, shrugs and heavy pulls where grip is the limiting factor.

Question 2

How do figure 8 lifting straps work?

Accepted Answer

You loop one end around your wrist, pass it under and around the bar, then back through - forming a figure 8 that secures your hand to the bar. It is a fixed loop, so it is quick to set and very secure under heavy load.

Question 3

Figure 8 straps vs. lasso lifting straps - what is the difference?

Accepted Answer

Figure 8 straps are a closed loop, making them the most secure option for maximal pulls. Lasso straps are adjustable and better when you need to release the bar quickly between reps. Figure 8s trade adjustability for lock-in security.
